JESUS First in Praying: God's Glory (Pt. 2)

November 24, 2019 Pastor: Verne Nakasone Series: Colossians

Passage: Colossians 1:10–1:11

OVERVIEW:

As this letter by Paul to the church began, we learn there are two
characteristics of the Christian.

1. Thanksgiving (1:1-8)
2. Praying (1:9-14)

NOTES:

1A. PRAYER TO KNOW GOD’S WILL (1:9)

This is the primary request. The Christian is to be filled up,
permeated, dominated, and controlled with God’s will. This
knowledge is a combination of information connected with
values, decisions, and lifestyle.

2A. PRAYER TO LIVE FOR GOD’S GLORY (1:10-11)

These are the four outcomes of knowing God’s will.

1B. Living Worthy
2B. Living Pleasing
3B. Living Fruitful
4B. Living Strong

These four outcomes also reflect God’s blessings on the Christian
who is spiritually growing and honoring the Lord.
