FREEDOM IN CHRIST From Restrictions
Passage: Colossians 2:16–2:17

FREEDOM IN CHRIST
Two words describe our present day.
You can evaluate these topics through the lens of the world or the Word of God. The world results in fear, anger, and worry. The Word of God results in trust, peace, and joy. Instead of being informed and influenced by the media, be informed and influenced by Your Mediator. Jesus set you spiritually free from the bondage of sin, death, Hell to know, love, and serve Him!
Spiritual freedom involves these three elements.
1A. COMPLETION (2:10) – Life is made whole when you repent from your sin and place your faith in Jesus Christ.
2A. CONVERSION (2:11-15) – Forgiveness and salvation are found in Jesus Christ
3A. CORRECTION (2:16-23)
1B. Two General Areas of Correction
1C. PHILOSOPHY (2:8-10)
2C. LEGALISM (2:16-17)
2B. Two Specific Areas of Correction
1C. DIET (Matthew 15:10-11; Acts 10:9-15; Romans 14:5-6,17)
2C. DAYS (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11; Acts 2:1,14,41, 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2)
3B. Application to the Correction
1C. PROBLEM OF JUDGING OTHERS
1D. Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.
2D. We focus on outward sins rather than matters of the heart.
2C. PRINCIPLES TO PREVENT JUDGING OTHERS
1D. The love of God prevents you from judging other’s salvation based on man-made rules.
2D. Loving one another prevents you from judging other’s spirituality based on man-made rules.
If the shadow (rules and requirements) rise above the substance (Jesus Christ), the outcomes are separation.
• Separation from God because rules and requirements cannot save. Only Jesus saves!
• Separation from one another because rules and requirements replace the person.
When Jesus is Number One, we are One!
