Between Two Worlds
Passage: Colossians 2:20–2:23
The Christian lives amid the tension between the world here and now and the world to come. Jesus is the cause of faith, truth, and hope (Ephesians 2:12). The because of Christ, we have hope!
1A. HOPE IS NOT IN THIS WORLD (2:20-22a)
1B. The principles of the world, verse 20a.
2B. The parting from the world, verses 20b-22a.
3B. The perishing of the world, verse 22b.
2A. HOPE IS NOT IN RELIGION (2:22b-23)
1B. The orders of religion, verse 22b.
2B. The outward appearance of religion, verse 23a.
3B. The outcome of religion, verse 23b.
3A. HOPE IN CHRIST (Colossians 1:5,23,27; Psalm 42:11)
1B. Because of the revelation of Christ
2B. Because of our relationship with Christ
Some hope in this world, going to the world for advice and direction. Some hope in religion, seeking to follow certain directives and guidelines. Let us place our hope in Christ. Living for Jesus is not about the preservation of this life, it is about being preserved in the life to come
