The passage this morning identifies the greatest peril facing every person in every place, at every time is the wrath of God … unless we are rescued by God from sure peril.

1C. Not a blotch in God’s character
2C. Not God losing His temper
3C. Not Who God is but what God does
2B. What God’s Wrath is
1C. God’s actions to those who sin against Him
2C. God’s divine perfection
3C. The sum of God’s identity
1B. Present Wrath (Psalm 7:11; Romans 1:18)
2B. Future Wrath (Romans 2:5-6; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)
3B. Final Wrath (Revelation 20:15)
1B. The reason for God’s Wrath, verse 6.
2B. The rescue from God’s Wrath, verse 7.
▪ God responds to me in wrath because of my sin.
▪ God responds to me in love because of Jesus Christ
▪ God’s love is displayed wondrously at the cross.
▪ Wrath and love come together at the cross.
▪ God’s wrath is satisfied in Christ.
Jesus said in John 8:45, “But because I tell you the truth, you do not believe Me.” Preaching on the wrath of God is the truth. Our message today is warning people of the wrath to come and declaring the good news of God’s love by providing us a Savior (Luke 2:11). The same God Who stands against us in wrath because of our sin, also stands for us in love because of the one and only Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
