As we complete our journey in the first letter of the Apostle Paul to the church in Thessalonica. Pastor Verne reminds us this letter begins with grace (1:1) and ends with grace (5:28). Everything is established on the grace of God. We’ll learn about grace and the practice of prayer (5:25-26). This grace is seen in praying and approaching God in trust and dependence, which are because of grace. This is also seen in our praying for the brethren. We’ll also learn about the grace as expressed in the priority of the Bible (5:27). We are given a charge of insistence and requirement that God’s Word is to be made known and recognized as important in the church. Everything that we believe is built upon the living and abiding Word of God. We are also to carefully seek to apply the Bible to our living. The priority of the Bible includes both the knowing and living of truth. We’ll also learn about the indispensable presence of God’s grace (5:28). This grace comes from God and is experienced in Christ. The presence of God’s grace in my life produces habits of grace in my life. All of the commands written in First Thessalonians highlight the lifestyle of those who are regenerated and transformed by grace.
