The Humble Joy of Rejoicing in the Lord

Pastor Verne preaching from Philippians 4:4, “The Humble Joy of Rejoicing in the Lord.” Though this verse is brief and simple, it is packed with abiding truth. “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” The Apostle Paul reminds the Philippian church to rejoice. We’ll consider the reminder of our rejoicing. The call and command to rejoice is replete throughout God’s Word. We may think that there are some situations excluded from this teaching, yet this verse instructs us to rejoice always. The reason is discovered with the phrase, “in the Lord.” The basis of our rejoicing is the Lord and our faith and trust in the promises of God. The Apostle Paul stated that this is and would be his message to them over and over again. The two motivating causes of our rejoicing is the gospel and that our names are written in the Book of Life.
