Jim Becker preaching on The Mandate to Contend for the Faith (Jude 3-4). In Jude 3–4 believers are given a serious mission, where Jude, moved by the Holy Spirit, sets aside a joyful letter about "common salvation" to address a pressing spiritual crisis. The message defines a clear mandate for all believers to "contend earnestly" for the foundational truths of the Gospel, which were "once for all handed down" and require vigorous defense against distortion. This urgent charge is necessary because "ungodly persons" have "crept in unnoticed" to the church, attempting to turn God’s grace into a license for "sensuality" and effectively denying the Lordship of Jesus Christ. To contend for the faith, we must diligently study the Word to know the faith, build ourselves up in that faith, live in total submission to Christ's Lordship, and maintain the courage to correct error with a balance of firmness and mercy.
