The Humble Joy of Being of the Same Mind
The Lord Jesus is the Prince of peace. The most essential peace is to be at peace with God through repentance from your sin and placing your faith in the Prince of peace. A role of the church is to declare and display peace. We will learn this lesson as Pastor Verne preaches from Philippians 4:2-3 on, “The Humble Joy of Being of the Same Mind". We’ll learn that this is the interest of God. We will consider the conflict that existed between Euodia and Syntyche, two Christians in the church. The Apostle Paul gave clear instruction that they were “to be of the same mind.” This is a phrase of contentment and satisfaction. In addition, it teaches us the importance of curbing and restraining away from whatever is preventing us from experiencing being of the same mind. We will also consider the wise counsel given. The Apostle Paul urged the church to apply God’s will personally and corporately. He reminded them that they were companions, helpers, laborers, and workers. These are what it takes to maintain harmony in relationships. Why should God’s interest be my interest? Because of the gospel and because our names are written in the Book of Life.
