Pastor John Kane preaching from God’s Word. We’ll learn about resting, standing, trusting or walking in God’s promises from Joshua 1:1-5. One of God’s many attributes taught in His Word is that He is “immutable.” This means God doesn’t change. Our loving God is the same yesterday, today and forever. In our study we will seek to see how God’s immutability means His principles don’t change; His plans don’t change; and His promises don’t change. In the Book of Joshua, we learn that Moses has died and Joshua is now leading the Israelites. God miraculously delivered the Israelites from slavery out of Egypt. Moses then led the Israelites during 40 years of wilderness wanderings. They had reached the Jordan River. Moses had died, and young Joshua was charged to lead God’s people back into the land God has promised Abraham. What obstacles and seeming insurmountable challenges faced them as they looked across the Jordan into Canaan – the promised land? A river impassable because it was at flood stage. The incredibly fortified city of Jericho that had never been conquered. Are you facing circumstances or a trial discouraging or that seems impossible? Let’s be encouraged together as we learn truths to help us appropriate or possess what God has already promised us!
