Our Clean Hope - 1 Thessalonians 4:6-8

Apr 27, 2025

Pastor Verne returning to our verse-by-verse series in First Thessalonians. The goal of our Christian life is to please God. In chapter 4, we learned that pleasing God means that we are growing spiritually (4:1-2). This Sunday, we’ll learn that pleasing God means that we are morally pure. Though the culture around us deteriorates in moral purity, God’s will is our sanctification (4:3). Sanctification is what God requires from us. How can we fulfill such a requirement and live morally pure in our sex saturated world? We’ll discover three principles we must apply. We are not to be controlled by our body (4:4), we are not to behave like an unbeliever (4:5), and we are not to take advantage of others (4:6). Rather, we must consecrate our body and mind to God, and we must consider the Word of God. The standard of moral purity is for all believers. May we surrender our mind, emotion, and will to pleasing God by living morally pure lives for the glory of God.
