Proclaim the King - Mark 1:1-11
Pastor Verne preaching on, “Proclaim the King” from Mark 1:1-11. Verse 1 teaches that this is, “The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.” Following the ministry of John the Baptist (1:1-8), the water baptism of Jesus (1:9-11), and the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness (1:12-13), Jesus began His public ministry. The rise of John the Baptist came after 400 silent years when there were no prophets from God and no new revelation. The Old Testament prophets Malachi and Isaiah proclaimed that a forerunner would arise to prepare the way of the Messiah (1:2-3). Mark 1 reveals the proclamation of John (1:4-11). We will learn about the man himself (1:6) and the message (1:4-8), which all points to the magnificent One (1:9-11). His name is Jesus Christ and He is the Son of God. At the baptism of Jesus, He fulfilled righteousness and pleased His Father. These verses indicate that Jesus is King and is to be proclaimed as King above all kings!
