Holy Spirit Hope - 1 Thessalonians 5:19

We’ll learn about the fourth characteristic of authentic corporate worship. Spirit refers to the Holy Spirit. It’s foundational to remember that the Holy Spirt is God and He is a real Person. We are taught not to quench the Holy Spirit. The activity of the Holy Spirit is to be moving and working in Christ’s church and people. The work that the Holy Spirit is seeking in accomplish in your life is to conform you to the image of Jesus Christ. Only the Holy Spirit can accomplish this in you. Quenching the Spirit is not extinguishing the Spirit or removing the Spirit but rather points to resisting Him. The Christian life is a surrendered life. I am to present myself to God unto a life of holiness, purity, and righteousness. The perfect example of this is the Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:7 says, “Then I said, ‘Behold I have come – in the volume of the book it is written of Me – To do Your will, O God.” I am to be conformed to Christlikeness by pursuing and practicing, “Your will, O God.”
