Jesus Died For Our Sins (Romans 4:25)

Apr 18, 2025

Good Friday represents the darkest day in history. Luke 23:45 says, “Then the sun was darkened.” The Light of the World suffered for the darkness of our sins. The Lamb of God was sacrificed as a payment for our sins. There at the crucifixion on Golgotha’s hill, our Lord Jesus was our substitute. Jesus took our place, paid our debt, and fulfilled God’s holy demands for sin. Romans 4:25a says, “Who was delivered up for our offenses.” The sacrifice of our Lord Jesus was God’s plan and God’s will. On the cross, our Lord Jesus suffered betrayal and arrest, religious and civil trials. Our Lord Jesus was scourged and crucified. “And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, ‘Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ Having said this, He breathed His last.” Why did our Lord Jesus endure such a contradiction of sinners against Himself? For our offenses. We are the ones who have deviated from the right way. “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). How marvelous! How wonderful! Is my Savior’s love for me.
